Medienprojekt: Strategie

17.6 million people in Germany are affected by social exclusion due to financial poverty. These include the unemployed, people on low incomes, single parents, large families with children and the elderly. Many people in poverty cannot afford public transportation, making it difficult for them to reach a doctor's office or other essential services.
We have set ourselves the mission of making it easier for people affected by poverty to participate in cultural and social life.

App Extension
We have created an app extension that can be integrated into all existing public transport apps.
This allows users to voluntarily round up the amount when purchasing a ticket. The funds raised will be used to provide tickets to those in need.

Onboarding
Through an update, the app extension is seamlessly integrated into the public transport apps we work with. When users open the app for the first time after the update, they are greeted with an onboarding experience. This introduces the different patterns and explains the principle of rounding up - making the concept of solidarity behind the extension immediately tangible. In addition, the seat fabric pattern of the particular transport provider appears as a prominent element on the home screen, allowing users to access their collected patterns at any time.

Collection

The app extension also includes a 'Mustersammlung' (pattern collection). With each rounding transaction, users earn points that unlock new patterns - each reflecting the seat designs of the public transport system in the city where the ticket was purchased, creating a unique personal collection.
Not only can this collection be shared on social media, but it also provides insight into both individual contributions and the overall impact of the cause.

Distribution
'Musterlösung' is an (fictous) initiative of Tafel Deutschland to facilitate access to public transport for people living in poverty and thus their participation in society. The NGO Tafel is a food bank on a mission to supply people affected by poverty with food that can no longer be sold commercially.
'Musterlösung' acts as an intermediary between Tafel members and public transport providers. This solidarity-based approach not only promotes social participation, but also creates a simple and transparent way to support people in financial need.

Design
The branding for the 'Musterlösung' initiative draws on the visual power of public transport seat patterns. The colourful, often iconic patterns have been reinterpreted with a vibrant color palette and used as a central design element. Clean typography and a modern design concept support the visual identity, while the patterns are playfully incorporated into various media, from app integration to communication materials.

The result is a branding that is not only visually appealing, but also conveys the social idea behind the initiative: Mobility for all through solidarity and creative design.

Campaign
In order to reach potential contributors directly, the campaign focuses on key points of the public transport network - especially bus stops and the vehicles themselves. Slogans such as "Your pattern ticket can do more."(Dein Ticketmuster kann mehr.), "More patterns, more possibilities." (Mehr Muster, mehr Möglichkeiten.) or "Take a stand." (Nimm Bezug – literally: take upholstery) create a link between mobility and the idea of solidarity.

Website
The website serves as a central hub where all communication channels converge. It provides structured and easy-to-navigate access to all relevant information - both for those affected and those who wish to support the initiative.

Social Media

On social media, the visual language is continued consistently: illustrations of bus seat patterns ensure recognizability. A carousel post shows how the campaign is presented on Instagram.
